Youth4Peace Conference in Pernik, Bulgaria: Exploring Pluralism as a Pillar of Democracy
Updated: Jun 24
As the Irish partner of the Youth4Peace project, we were proud to take part in the international conference held in Pernik, Bulgaria, from March 26th to 29th, 2025. Hosted by the International Youth Center Pernik, the conference gathered representatives from across Europe to explore the theme of pluralism—a fundamental building block of democratic societies.
Pluralism in Action: Living Together in a Diverse Society
Under the central theme “Living Together in a Pluralistic Society,” the event offered a dynamic space for reflection, dialogue, and collaboration. Participants engaged in interactive workshops and sessions focused on political pluralism, media freedom, and civic participation—core components of a vibrant democracy.
The conference extended beyond workshops to include key institutional visits. A special visit to the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Sofia offered participants a deeper understanding of Bulgaria’s national youth policies and how young people are involved in shaping political life.
Participants came together—not only to learn, but to connect, collaborate, and build a shared vision for a more pluralistic and peaceful Europe.
